Our Mission

Built for Puerto Rico.

Invested in Puerto Rico.

Listening to Puerto Rico.

Puerto Ricans rely on electricity every day. We need it to run our appliances, power the street lights, and produce the goods and services that drive our economy on the island.

Our job at LUMA is to provide Puerto Ricans with dependable electricity that you can depend on. Our mission is to transform the island’s electric system, so that you have the safe, reliable and resilient energy that you deserve — and that will support Puerto Rico’s overall economy for years to come.

We put people first – our employees, our customers and the communities where we live and work.

We encourage and inspire our people to embrace opportunities, as they work to build an electricity system that will make Puerto Rico a better place.

You can count on us to get up every day with the goal of providing exceptional customer service and operational excellence in all we do.

LUMA Parent Companies Recognized for Excellence in Canadian Transmission Project

On September 10, ATCO and Quanta Services were recognized with the 2020 International Edison Award for their work on the Fort McMurray West 500-kV Transmission Project, completed by Alberta PowerLine (APL), a partnership between LUMA’s two parent companies.

APL is recognized for creating a new model for energy infrastructure that provides long-term social and economic benefits for our customers, communities and Indigenous Peoples. The Edison Award is presented annually by the Edison Electric Institute and is the industry’s most prestigious award.

In 2014, APL was selected by the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) to develop, design, build, finance, own, operate and maintain the Fort McMurray West 500-kV Transmission Project. Stretching 315 miles (508 kilometres) across northern Alberta, Canada, the transmission project was energized in March 2019, three months ahead of schedule, on-budget, and with an outstanding safety record.

Not only did we successfully complete one of the most significant infrastructure projects in Canada, but we did so in keeping with our values; ensuring the safety of our people, the protection of the environment, and making a positive and lasting difference for the communities along the route.

We look forward to working together to bring the same level of operational excellence, technical expertise and community engagement to transform the electricity system in Puerto Rico.
