ROLE OF THE GENERATORS


The Generating Facilities:
  • Generate the energy that the System Operator receives to distribute
  • Purchase fuel used to generate power, in the case of non-renewable sources
  • Communicate daily status of generating units to the System Operator
  • Are regulated by the Puerto Rico Energy Bureau (PREB)


ROLE OF THE SYSTEM OPERATOR


The System Operator:
  • Receives energy generated by Generating Facilities
  • Operates the transmission and distribution systems to deliver energy to consumers
  • Does not generate energy and does not purchase fuel
  • Is regulated by the Puerto Rico Energy Bureau (PREB)
