As part of our commitment to keeping you safe, LUMA is launching a new safety effort, fighting fraud, to raise public awareness of phone scams and fraud attempts that target utility customers across Puerto Rico.
How real is this threat? According to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), there were over 2.3 million illegal phone scams reported last year nationally, and 3,351 illegal scams reported in Puerto Rico. These phone scams often involve scammers contacting customers and telling them that immediate payment is required to avoid immediate disconnection of service.
Working together, LUMA is determined to help keep our customers safe.
