As part of our long-standing commitment to transparency to you and all of our 1.5 million customers, LUMA has provided more than 225,000 pages of detailed reports, service orders and financial information to Representative Luis Raúl Torres and the Committee of Economic Development, Planning, Telecommunications, Public-Private Partnerships and Energy of the Puerto Rico House of Representatives.
These actions highlight our commitment to transparency and the significant actions we have taken to restore, repair and rebuild Puerto Rico’s energy system after decades of neglect. In fact, since June 1, 2021, we have submitted 300 regulatory documents, and have provided over 235,000 pages of documents detailing every facet of our operations. We have also taken part in 27 hearings and technical conferences with the PREB and published two quarterly reports that outline the scope of the work performed and the investments and expenses made to build a safer, more reliable and cleaner energy system for Puerto Rico.
So you are aware, today’s public statement repeat statements made in the our second quarter report:
LUMA does not expect or anticipate requesting an increase of the base rate established by the Energy Bureau’s 2017 rate order. In other words, we do not expect or anticipate any increase in non-fuel related costs associated with your bill.
In addition, it is important for you to know that we have not exceeded our approved budget for FY 2021-2022, and we have made it clear that we are taking the necessary and immediate operational actions to improve the system and ensure our employees are properly trained and safe, while staying within the allowed limits set by PREB and the OMA.
No matter what requests may come from the legislature, all of our 3,000 LUMA workers remain committed to full transparency in our operations. We will not be distracted from our mission to provide you and all Puerto Ricans the more reliable, more resilient and cleaner electrical system you deserve.
Sincerely, The LUMA Family
