All LUMA commercial customers with an active account number, Employer Identification Number (EIN), and service address can submit a rebate application if they purchase and install eligible equipment.
LUMA commercial customers who purchase and install eligible efficiency equipment can complete and submit a rebate application to LUMA. If final approval is granted, customers will receive a financial incentive in the form of a one-time check to help reduce the initial product cost and increase the energy efficiency of their business.
Participation in the Business Efficiency Rebate Program is simple. Within 180 days of purchasing and installing eligible energy‑efficient equipment, customers must submit their application directly through the LUMA Rebate Application Portal. The portal automatically verifies your LUMA account and guides you step‑by‑step to upload only the required documents such as a paid or partially paid invoice, contractor information (if applicable), and certification documents.
Pre‑approval is not required; however, it is strongly recommended for projects with anticipated rebates greater than $10,000. Pre‑approval helps confirm funding availability and verify that your proposed equipment meets minimum qualification requirements before installation. Pre‑approval is available for projects of any size, and when granted, funds may be reserved for up to 90 days or until the estimated project completion date, whichever comes first. Extensions may be considered on a case‑by‑case basis and depend on funding availability. Once installation is complete, upload your final invoices and all required documents to the portal.
Most reviews are processed within 6–8 weeks. If the application receives final approval, customers will receive their rebate as a one‑time check mailed to the address listed in the portal—please allow 4–6 weeks for check delivery after final approval.

What are the benefits of participating in LUMA Energy’s Business Efficiency Rebate Program?
The Business Efficiency Rebate Program offers rebates that help reduce the upfront cost of qualifying energy efficient equipment, making it easier for businesses to acquire high efficiency technologies that can lower energy use and reduce operating costs. These upgrades also have the potential to lower monthly electric bills while contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gases and supporting Puerto Rico in achieving its broader energy efficiency and sustainability goals.
Which equipment is currently eligible for LUMA Energy’s Business Efficiency Rebate Program rebates?
A list of all eligible equipment and their respective rebate offerings can be found in the table above or in the LUMA Rebate Application portal, including all certification and efficiency requirements.
What documentation is required?
Applicants must submit a completed application through the LUMA Rebate Application Portal including an itemized equipment receipt or invoice indicating payment, equipment information, business name and contact information, IRS Form W-9, and installing contractor information (if applicable) for each type of equipment submitted for rebate consideration. Rebate applications for all equipment types must be submitted within 180 days of equipment installation for rebate consideration. Pre-approval is not required prior to the purchase of new equipment.
What is pre-approval? Is it required?
Program pre-approval is generally not required; however, pre-approval is recommended for projects to confirm funding availability and to verify that the equipment meets minimum qualifications for an incentive. Pre-approval is available for projects of any size; however, it is strongly encouraged for projects with anticipated rebates that exceed $10,000. Projects that receive pre‑approval may have program funds reserved for up to 90 days or until the estimated project completion date, depending on which occurs first. Pre‑approval requests are submitted and reviewed directly through the LUMA Rebate Application Portal.
What is the deadline for submitting rebate applications?
Rebate applications must be submitted within 180 days of the equipment installation date (as shown on the equipment invoice or receipt). Program pre-approval is generally not required; however, it is strongly recommended, especially for projects with anticipated rebates greater than $10,000, to confirm funding availability and to verify that the equipment meets minimum qualifications for an incentive. All rebate applications, including those seeking pre‑approval, must be submitted directly through the LUMA Rebate Application Portal.
How will I be notified about the status of my rebate application?
You can track the status of your application at any time through the LUMA Rebate Application Portal. Status updates may also be sent via email from “LUMA Reembolso” ([email protected]).
If additional information is required, program staff will contact you using the contact information you provided in your portal profile.
After final approval, please allow approximately 4–6 weeks for check delivery.
How do I get my rebate(s)?

How do contractors participate in the program?
Contractors may assist LUMA customers by completing and submitting the application on the customer’s behalf. To do so, the contractor must work directly with the customer to gather all information required for the application; these requirements are outlined in the Application Portal Quick Guide. At this time, rebates are issued directly to the participating LUMA customer and cannot be assigned to contractors.
What if I need to reassign my rebate to a third party?
The program is designed to provide rebates to LUMA account holders who purchase high efficiency equipment. If someone other than the account holder made the purchase, the rebate may be reassigned to a third party with appropriate supporting documentation. At this time, rebates cannot be reassigned to contractors.
What communications can I expect from the Commercial Efficiency Rebate Program team?
The Program Implementation team will communicate with applicants when appropriate through a variety of methods including via email ([email protected] or [email protected]), phone, direct marketing and more. Please note that program staff will never communicate via social media and will never ask for personal information unrelated to your rebate application.
For additional information, please reach out to program staff [email protected] or at 1-844-888-5862 (LUMA).
