Thank you for your interest in LUMA’s Energy Efficiency rebate programs for commercial customers. Due to high demand and the success of the programs, we will no longer be accepting new Commercial rebate applications rebate applications starting June 10, 2025. We anticipate reopening these programs later this year, subject to funding availability.

All LUMA commercial customers with an active account number, business Employer Identification Number (EIN), and service address can file a rebate application if they purchase and install eligible equipment.  

LUMA commercial customers who purchase and install eligible efficiency equipment can complete and submit a rebate application to LUMA. Program pre-approval is generally not required; however, pre-approval is strongly recommended for projects to confirm funding availability and to verify that the equipment meets minimum qualifications for an incentive if pre-approval is solicited prior to the installation of eligible equipment. Pre-approval is available for projects of any size however, it is strongly encouraged for projects with anticipated rebates that exceed $10,000. If final approval is granted, customers will receive a financial incentive in the form of a one-time check to help lower the initial product cost and increase energy efficiency of their business.  

Rebate applications require proof of purchase and installation and must be submitted within 90 days after purchase, so act quick! Applications can be submitted by mail or electronic mail at [email protected]. If approved, customers will receive rebate checks by mail. 

Participation in the Business Efficiency Rebate Program is simple! follow the steps on the application after purchasing and installing your new eligible energy efficient equipment. Submit your completed application with required proof of purchase by mail or email and wait for your rebate check to arrive by mail! 

We strongly recommend seeking pre-approval for projects with anticipated rebates that exceed $10,000, though projects of any size can submit for pre-approval as desired. If your project is seeking pre-approval, please indicate as such in Section 1 of the application. Once submitted, our team will review and if pre-approval is granted the customer will be notified by email. Projects that receive program pre-approval will have funds reserved for 90 days or until the estimated project completion date, whichever comes first. Pre-approval extensions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and will adhere to funding availability. Once installation has been completed, please submit final invoices and any potential scope changes via email to [email protected] for our team to review. If approved, customers will receive rebate checks by mail.

Once submitted, our team will review and if pre-approval is granted the customer will be notified by email. Once installation has been completed, please submit final invoices and any potential scope changes via email to [email protected] for our team to review. If I purchased my equipment before June 10, 2025, can I still submit a rebate application after this date?

If you purchased eligible equipment and submitted your application on or before June 10, 2025, your application will be reviewed and processed for a rebate. However, if your application was submitted after June 10, 2025, it will not be eligible for a rebate during this period. Once the programs resume, you may be eligible for a rebate if your equipment was purchased and installed within the ninety (90) days prior to the date you submit your application.

When will the energy efficiency rebate programs resume?

We anticipate that the programs will be available later in 2025, subject to funding availability. Should I wait to purchase eligible equipment until the programs resume?

While upgrading to energy-efficient equipment is always a smart decision, we recommend making your purchase when it best fits your needs. However, to be eligible for a rebate under our programs, your equipment must be purchased and installed within 90 days of the program’s resumption. If you’re ready to upgrade now, you may proceed—but please keep in mind that rebates will only apply if the program is active, and you meet the 90-day eligibility requirement.

What happens if I already submitted my application and am waiting for a response?

During the first six months of the program, rebate applications for eligible energy efficiency measures have been met with great enthusiasm. As a result, processing times are longer than anticipated, and we sincerely appreciate your patience. Your application will be reviewed, and you will receive a response as soon as possible. Are both the residential and business rebate programs currently on pause?

What are the benefits of participating in LUMA Energy’s Business Efficiency Rebate Program?  

 The program provides rebates to reduce the cost of new Energy Efficiency equipment, making it easier for you to purchase equipment that will make your business more energy efficient and may reduce your monthly electric bills.

 How can customers apply for rebates?

What documentation is required?  

 Applicants must submit a completed application form including an itemized equipment receipt or invoice, a recent copy of the account holder’s LUMA electric bill and installing contractor information (if applicable) for each type of equipment installed within 90 days of equipment purchase date. Pre-approval is not required prior to the purchase of new equipment.  How do I get my rebate(s)?   

 Customers can submit a rebate application via email at [email protected] or by mail to ATTN: LUMA Energy Rebate Programs | PO Box 364267 San Juan, PR 00936-4267. If approved, customers will receive a rebate in the form of a one-time check. Rebate checks will be sent by mail to the address specified on the application. Please allow 4-6 business days for application processing or pre-approval review and up to six weeks to receive your rebate payment after final approval of the application.  

 How does the Business Efficiency Rebate Program work?  

Participation is simple, follow the steps after purchasing and installing eligible equipment, and submit the completed application with the required proof of purchase and installation by mail or email. Program pre-approval is generally not required; however, pre-approval is strongly recommended for projects to confirm funding availability and to verify that the equipment meets minimum qualifications for an incentive. Pre-approval is available for projects of any size; however, it is strongly encouraged for projects with anticipated rebates that exceed $10,000. If you are applying for multiple measures at the same time, please include them all on one application and be sure to submit all documentation related to each measure.
