Tips for Using Emergency Generators

Storm Safety

Have flashlights and a battery-powered radio on hand. Secure medication and a first aid kit.  Have at least a two-week supply of water and non-perishable food. Protect identification documents (such as passports, Social Security cards, driver’s licenses, birth certificates, insurance policies, and any other important documents).  Review your family emergency plan. Keep an eye out for newsletters. During the event, stay inside your home or building, and away from windows. Turn off power switches and unplug electronic equipment, such as televisions and computers, to protect them from possible power fluctuations. If there are fallen wires and poles in your home or on the street, do not touch them. Assume they are energized and can be dangerous.

Energy Theft

Energy Theft affects us all. It is dangerous and illegal. If you know of someone who is stealing electricity or committing fraud, report it confidentially by calling us at 1-844-888-5862 (LUMA). Help us fight back!
