Puerto Rico Rent Payment Assistance Program

This program provides rent and utility assistance to low-income people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

To be eligible, tenants must:

  • Have earnings equal to or below 80% of the median income of the area where you reside, as established by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD);
  • Have had reduced income or increased expenses as a result of the pandemic.

Eligible payments 

  • Income due up to 15 months, starting in April 2020.
  • Current income until December 2021, but total payments may not exceed 15 months of rent.
  • Reasonableexpensesoflatefeesformonthseligibleforpaymentof
  • Electricity and water expenses running and past due from April 2020 up to a maximum of 15 months.

It is essential to know that it is not necessary to have income debt to receive assistance for the payment of arrears. In addition, may receive rent payment assistance up to three (3) months in advance.
