San Juan, Puerto Rico, September 19, 2022 – Today, LUMA confirmed the first group of 61 utility field workers from one of its parent companies, Quanta Services, has arrived in Puerto Rico. As part of a coordinated effort to assist in restoration efforts, additional utility field workers will continue to be deployed over the coming days to support LUMA’s utility crews across the island. The Quanta utility crews will also be utilizing prepositioned equipment and trucks in a combined effort to restore power as quickly and safely as possible following the devastation of Hurricane Fiona.

The utility field workers that that arrived today and the others that are in transit are world class trained utility experts, they will utilize prepositioned equipment, including specialized trucks, and will do whatever is necessary to assist LUMA in its restoration efforts. Looking ahead, we want to be very clear, Quanta stands ready to provide LUMA what help is necessary to restore power as quickly and safely as can be done,” said Duke Austin, President and Chief Executive Officer of Quanta.
