LUMA urges the entire community to remain alert and vigilant against any suspicious activity that may be related to fraud schemes.

The company warns about fraud schemes and shares tips to protect personal information

April 24, 2025 – San Juan, Puerto Rico — LUMA issued a warning yesterday about several fraudulent websites and links promoting a fake investment opportunity and sale of shares. As part of its response, LUMA notified the relevant agencies, requested the removal of the site, issued a cease-and-desist demand for its new publication, and reported the case to federal authorities.

Noriette Figueroa, LUMA’s Vice President of Customer Experience, emphasized the importance of customers and the broader community staying alert and vigilant against any suspicious activity that could be linked to fraud schemes. “We want to clearly state that LUMA does not sell shares to the public, nor does it solicit money from customers. We reaffirm our commitment to protecting information and educating the community on how to recognize signs of fraud. These deceptive messages often try to solicit investments, personal information, or unauthorized payments. Let us be absolutely clear: LUMA does not request money, investment payments, or financial personal information through unofficial channels, social media, calls, or messages. Any such communication is fraudulent,” said Figueroa.

Fraud not only directly harms its victims but also undermines trust and collective safety.

“Our top priority is the safety of our customers and the integrity of our systems. Protecting customer data starts with awareness.
