LUMA’s “We’re Here to Help” Initiative Continues to Raise Awareness of Financial Assistance Options Available to Customers In Need
San Juan, Puerto Rico, September 26, 2023 – With less than a week left before La Familia’s Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program’s (LIHEAP) September 30 application deadline, LUMA is urging its customers to act now to take advantage of financial assistance programs as part of its ongoing “We’re Here to Help” initiative.
“LIHEAP is a critical financial assistance program that has already helped countless of our customers with their utility bills. We encourage any customer who is behind on their bill to apply for this critical aid before the September 30 deadline, or to reach out to LUMA so we can help find a financial solution that works best for them,” said Juan Saca, President and Chief Executive Officer of LUMA.
Since June 2021, LUMA has proudly helped customers access more than $108 million in critical financial assistance from LIHEAP and other government programs. LUMA offers a variety subsidized rates and payment plan options to customers who may need help paying their electric bills.

LIHEAP provides economic assistance to families who qualify based on income and account balance.

LUMA Subsidized Rates & Payment Plans
LUMA continues to provide payment plan options and subsidized rates year-round to eligible customers. Customers may qualify for immediate savings through these subsidized rates:
- Customers over the age of 65
- Full-time college students
- Individuals who depend on life-saving medical equipment
- Customers with disabilities
- Customers with qualifying low incomes
