HELP CUSTOMERS

AS PART OF “WE’RE HERE TO HELP” INITATIVE, LUMA WILL HIGHLIGHT ARRAY OF ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS, PAYMENT PLANS AND SUBSIDIZED RATES AVAILABLE

San Juan, Puerto Rico, August 28, 2023 – As part of LUMA’s commitment to supporting and serving customers, the company is launching a “We’re Here to Help” initiative to raise further awareness and promote a variety of financial assistance programs, subsidized rates and payment plan options available to customers who may need help paying their electric bills.

“Our customers are at the center of everything we do, and I want to express my genuine concern for those who are facing financial hardships and may be struggling to pay their bills,” said Juan Saca, LUMA President and Chief Executive Officer. “We want all of our customers to know that they have options, and we are committed to help find the best solution for each customer’s unique circumstance. No matter your situation, LUMA is here to help.”

Since June 2021, LUMA has proudly setup over 39,000 customers with payment plans, provided eligible customers with subsidized rates, and helped customers access more than $106 million in critical financial assistance from the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and other available government programs.

Available Financial Assistance Programs

As part of the “We’re Here to Help” initiative, LUMA will be highlighting the following government assistance programs for which customers may qualify:

• Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, or LIHEAP, provides economic assistance to families who qualify based on income and account balance.

• Rent Payment Assistance Program provides utility and rent assistance based on income and may be available to you based on your qualifications.

LUMA Subsidized Rates and Payment Plans

To help customers further reduce their bill, LUMA will highlight the various subsidized rates for a variety of customers, as well as payment plan options for those who may need more time to pay their energy bill. Customers may qualify for immediate savings through these subsidized rates:

• Subsidized Rates:
  • Customers over the age of 65
  • Full-time college students
  • Individuals who depend on life-saving medical equipment
  • Customers with disabilities
  • Customers with qualifying low incomes
