LUMA LAUNCHES NEW CUSTOMER TOOL: THE COMPANY WILL SEND A NEWSLETTER WITH INFORMATION AND IMPORTANT UPDATES DIRECTLY TO ITS 1.5 MILLION CUSTOMERS

The goal is to keep customers informed about the progress of electric system reconstruction, emergency preparedness information, energy efficiency programs and electrical safety

San Juan, Puerto Rico – Aug. 4, 2024 – As part of its commitment to transparency, LUMA is launching a new monthly newsletter to help ensure its 1.5 million customers receive important updates and information on the actions LUMA is taking to serve its customers, rebuild and repair the electric system and address important customers questions. The first edition, which is scheduled to be released this week, will raise awareness of the importance of emergency preparedness and highlight key actions customers should take to stay safe during peak hurricane season.

As part of that commitment, we are excited to announce a new monthly email newsletter. This is a historic moment for our customers and is just another step toward building a better and more customer-focused energy future for our 1.5 million customers,” said Juan Saca, LUMA President and Chief Executive Officer.

Keeping Customers Informed

Customers must have a current email address registered with LUMA to receive the monthly newsletter. LUMA encourages all customers to register their email or verify their contact information is up-to-date through the Mi LUMA mobile app, on miluma.lumapr.com, by calling 1-844-888-LUMA (5862) or by visiting a LUMA customer service center.

Customer Service Improvements

This new email communication builds on LUMA’s continued efforts to improve overall customer service and regularly and transparently share critical information on customer programs, including: 

  • Planned Upgrades Web Portal, which provides information on when and where LUMA crews are performing planned upgrade projects on the electrical grid.
  • SMS Text Notifications, which allow customers who have registered cell phone numbers to receive timely notifications on their initiated billing and service requests and estimated time of restoration for reported outages.
  • Energy Efficiency Incentive Programs, which give customers more control over their energy usage and help lower their bills.
