San Juan, Puerto Rico, April 10, 2026 – Fulfilling her commitment and one of the top priorities she established from the start of her tenure, LUMA’s new CEO, Janisse Quiñones, has launched a series of meetings focused on understanding firsthand the needs and expectations of Puerto Rico’s key sectors. This week, Quiñones met with representatives from the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce, the United Retailers Association, the College of Engineers and Surveyors, and the Manufacturers Association, among others, with the goal of learning about their perspectives, operational challenges, project continuity, ongoing initiatives, and areas of opportunity to further improve electric service.
“From day one, I have been clear that listening to our customers and to the sectors that drive this country is a priority. These conversations allow us to better understand their needs and take action with greater focus and responsibility,” said Quiñones.
As part of this agenda, the CEO will also meet today with the Federation of Mayors and the Mayors Association, reaffirming her commitment to transparency, collaboration, and open communication with municipal governments.
“Municipalities are key partners in the operation of the electric system. Working hand in hand with mayors allows us to better coordinate projects, respond more quickly to community needs, and advance solutions that have a real impact on people’s daily lives,” Quiñones added.
Additionally, as part of this collaborative effort with key sectors, Rafael Vélez Domínguez, president of the Manufacturers Association, highlighted the importance of these exchanges.
“We appreciate this space for dialogue with LUMA’s CEO, which allowed us to directly share the needs of the industrial sector. It is essential for us to have a reliable and predictable electrical system that supports operational continuity and economic development. We reaffirm our willingness to collaborate with LUMA in the search for solutions that strengthen service stability and contribute to the country’s growth,” said Vélez Domínguez.
As part of this agenda, the CEO will also be holding upcoming meetings with members of the Legislative Assembly and heads of Executive Branch agencies. These meetings are part of an ongoing effort to strengthen coordination between LUMA and the island’s various sectors, with the goal of responding more effectively to the needs of Puerto Rico’s 1.5 million customers.
