Humacao, Puerto Rico – September 29, 2025 – As part of ongoing efforts to modernize and maintain the electrical system, LUMA crews will be carrying out important planned improvement work this week at the Naguabo and Humacao Pueblo substations to enhance service reliability for over 7,000 customers in the region.
Tuesday, September 30 – Naguabo Substation
Work will take place from 6:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., benefiting more than 4,700 customers. Tasks include:
Repair of distribution lines
Maintenance of equipment showing signs of overheating
Inspection and maintenance of the main transformer
Cleaning and adjustment of the distribution switch
Wednesday, October 1 – Humacao Pueblo Substation
Work will also be conducted from 6:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., impacting around 2,300 customers. Tasks include:
Replacement of critical components such as insulators on the lines
Replacement of the transformer’s connection box
Cleaning and maintenance of switches and other substation equipment

“With these improvements, we aim to strengthen the electrical system, minimize outages, and continue progressing toward a more reliable grid for all Puerto Ricans. However, it is essential that the relevant accounts have the necessary funding to continue carrying out this type of critical work that our electrical system requires,” emphasized Luis Miranda, Director of Substation Operations.
