The intervention, which requires a scheduled outage, is part of ongoing investment efforts to modernize the system and reduce breakdowns in the long term
San Juan, PR – March 2, 2026 – LUMA announced that on March 4 it will carry out an essential intervention on line 5,100 in Old San Juan, as part of the efforts to modernize and strengthen the electric grid. The works, which will last throughout the day, will address a breakdown identified in this historic area and will allow progress in the comprehensive improvement of the infrastructure that serves this important tourism and economic sector of Puerto Rico. More than 2,000 customers will benefit from this work.
To complete these tasks safely, it will be necessary to interrupt the electrical service for the customers and businesses of Old San Juan that are supplied. The magnitude of the project responds to the need to carry out complex repairs that require a controlled and safe environment for workers and the community.
The activity will have the coordinated participation of the Underground, Maintenance and Construction teams, who will take advantage of the intervention to attend to both aerial and underground components. This comprehensive approach helps improve system reliability and reduce the frequency of future breakdowns.
