The work, scheduled for December 9, will ensure the energy capacity necessary for the urban and commercial development of the municipality
Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, December 9, 2025 – To ensure that future housing developments and businesses have the necessary energy infrastructure to operate efficiently and safely, LUMA will carry out a series of improvements today in the municipality of Yabucoa.
The initiative responds to the projected growth in the area and seeks to anticipate the energy demand that will be generated by new residential and commercial constructions. With this action, the capacity of the local electricity system is reinforced, ensuring a more robust and stable service for the residents and merchants of Yabucoa.
“As part of the works, technical maneuvers will be carried out that will require a temporary interruption of the electrical service in specific sectors of the municipality. These outages, which will allow improvements to be completed safely and efficiently, will impact approximately 4,000 customers. Measures have been taken to ensure that these tasks are carried out in the shortest possible time, minimizing inconvenience and keeping the community informed throughout the process.” Commented Steven de Leon, Supervisor Distributions Lines in Humacao.
These improvements are part of a broader strategy to modernize the electric grid, focused on supporting Puerto Rico’s economic development and improving the quality of life of its citizens.
