Tankless Water Heater | This reimbursement is no longer available | Water heaters that come with gas or electric heat pump technology equipment heat your water just like standard models but with much less energy. This could save you up to $3500 over a unit’s lifetime. |
ENERGY STAR® Refrigerator | This reimbursement is no longer available | ENERGY STAR certified refrigerators are about 9% more energy efficient than models that meet the federal minimum energy efficiency standard. By properly recycling your old refrigerator and with a new ENERGY STAR certified refrigerator, you could save about $230 over the 12-year lifetime of the product. |
ENERGY STAR® Freezer | This reimbursement is no longer available | ENERGY STAR certified freezers are at least 10% more energy efficient than the minimum federal standard. By properly recycling your old freezer and replacing it with a new ENERGY STAR certified unit, you could save about $410 over the 12-year lifetime of the product. |
Air Conditioner (mini-spilt) | This reimbursement is no longer available | A high efficiency ductless air conditioning unit is an environmentally friendly way to keep your home comfortable without the trouble or expense of adding ductwork. |

All LUMA residential customers with an active account number and service address can file a rebate application if they purchase and install an eligible appliance.
LUMA customers who purchase and install eligible efficiency equipment can complete and submit a rebate application to LUMA. If approved, customers will receive a financial incentive to help lower the actual product cost and increase energy efficiency in their home. If I purchased my equipment before April 30, 2025, can I still submit my rebate application after this date?
If you have purchased and installed qualified equipment and your application was submitted prior to April 30, 2025, your submission will be reviewed and considered for a program incentive. However, if your application was submitted after April 30, 2025, it will not be eligible for an incentive at this time. Please note that when the programs are reinitiated, you will be eligible for rebate consideration if you have purchased qualifying equipment within 90 days prior to submitting your application and program relaunch.
When will the energy efficiency rebate programs restart?
We anticipate that rebates will be available later this year, subject to the availability of funds. We sincerely appreciate your patience and support, as you are helping to make a positive impact on Puerto Rico’s transition to a more reliable and sustainable power grid. Should I wait until after programs start to purchase my qualified equipment?
While transitioning to energy-efficient equipment is always a positive step, we recommend making the purchase when it makes the most sense for your needs. However, please note that to be eligible for a rebate through our programs, you must purchase and install qualifying equipment within 90 days of the program relaunch. If you’re ready to upgrade now, you can still move forward with your purchase, but keep in mind that the rebate will only apply once the program is live, and you meet the 90-day criteria.
What if I already submitted an application and I am waiting for a response from the program?
During the first six (6) months of the program, requests for qualifying energy efficient measures have been highly successful. Processing applications is taking longer than anticipated and we sincerely thank you for your patience. Your application will be reviewed, and you will receive a response as soon as possible. Please note that updates regarding your application submission will be sent via email from our application database at [email protected]. Are both the residential and business programs pausing?

What are the benefits of participating in LUMA’s Home Efficiency Rebate Program?
The program provides rebates to reduce the cost of new Energy Efficiency equipment, making it easier for you to purchase equipment that will make your home more efficient and comfortable with the potential to reduce your monthly electric bills.
How does the Home Efficiency Rebate Program work?
Participation is easy. Download the Home Efficiency Rebate Program Application, follow the steps after purchasing and installing eligible equipment, and submit the completed application with the required proof of purchase and installation by mail or email. If you are applying for multiple measures at the same time, please include them all on one application and be sure to submit all documentation related to each measure. Once approved, expect to receive your rebate check within 4 to 6 weeks.
Which equipment is currently eligible for LUMA’s Home Efficiency Rebate Program rebates?

For the ENERGY STAR equipment, how do I know if my equipment is ENERGY STAR rated?
Equipment must be listed in the ENERGY STAR Certified Products Data Catalog to qualify for this rating. Please visit the ENERGY STAR website to find qualified products: https://www.energystar.gov/
Please note that some products claim to be “Energy Saving” but might not qualify for the official ENERGY STAR rating. Please use the official website for the most up-to-date product information.
Can I still apply for the AC mini-split incentive?
No, the AC mini-split incentive ended on November 25, 2024. Unfortunately, applications for this incentive are no longer being accepted. Please check for other available incentives or programs.
Who is eligible to participate in the program?
All LUMA residential customers with an active account number and service address are eligible to participate in the Home Efficiency Rebate Program. There are increased rebates for income eligible customers, so be sure to complete all fields in section one of your rebate application to be considered for the enhanced incentives. Applications need to be submitted by the LUMA Account Holder for rebate consideration.
What if I am not the LUMA Account Holder. Can I still participate in the program?
The LUMA Account Holder is required to be the signatory on the program agreement section within the application. If you are not the LUMA Account Holder, you will need to obtain approval through a signature from the LUMA Account Holder to participate.

Applicants must submit a completed application form including an itemized equipment receipt or invoice indicating payment, a recent and complete copy of the account holder’s LUMA electric bill, customer contact information, and installing contractor information (if applicable) for each type of equipment submitted for rebate consideration. Rebate applications for all equipment types must be submitted within 90 days of equipment purchase for rebate consideration. Pre-approval is not required prior to the purchase of new equipment. How do I get my rebate?
Customers can submit a rebate application via email at [email protected] or by mail to ATTN: LUMA Rebate Programs | PO Box 9227512, San Juan, PR 00922-7512. If approved, customers will receive a rebate in the form of a one-time check. Rebate checks will be sent by mail to the address specified on the application. Please allow up to 30 days for application processing and up to six weeks to receive your rebate payment after final approval of the application.
What communications can I expect from the Home Efficiency Rebate Program team?
The Home Efficiency Rebate Program team is comprised of several partners including but not limited to Resource Innovations, and TechniArt. These organizations have partnered with LUMA to design and implement the Home Efficiency Rebate Program.
The Program Implementation team will communicate with applicants when appropriate through a variety of methods including via email ([email protected] or [email protected]), phone, direct marketing and more.
