LUMA informs customers about limited generation capacity in the system

San Juan, Puerto Rico, June 16, 2021 – LUMA informs its customers that due to unplanned outages in the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA) generation facilities and the ongoing planned maintenance in AES Guayama and other PREPA generation facilities, there is limited generation capacity in the system across the next three (3) days.

LUMA is working closing with PREPA generation to ensure all available generation is operating to supply the system demand. In the event customer load exceeds available generation, customers may experience service interruptions. Peak consumption hours are generally between 7:00 pm and 10:00 pm.

LUMA will continue to update customers with regards to this situation.
